•We all have the ability to let go of our thoughts, to choose where we direct our attention, how long we allow our attention to linger on things that cause us harm. You do, too. Sometimes, you just need a bit of practice. Because when we ignore or completely lose interest in that ability, we end up at the mercy of ingrained, automated behaviours, views and patterns. They have us on a lead, so to speak. And so we keep trudging round and round the same track. That’s not freedom. That’s not dignity. •One of the reasons I like being with people who have begun their inward journey is that they‘be just discovered the chaos in their brains and have therefore created some distance between themselves and their thoughts. Inevitably, this makes them humbler. →確かに傲慢である自覚は少しある…humblerになりたい •Regardless of who we are, where we come from and what our history is, we tend to have a lot in common in terms of our inner workings. By admitting that and shining a light on it, we make it easier to stop pretending we’re on top of everything. •We’re shaped by how we were raised, what we’ve experienced, what we came into this world with, our culture, our life situation and the messages we encounter on our journey. We don’t choose our thoughts. We don’t control the shape they take….We can only choose whether or not to believe it. I have totally been believing it all these years😇 とりあえずKindleで25%まで読んだ記録。 **4月27日追記** •there’s more to us than just reason. We also have another way of reaching knowledge and making decisions. We have moments of inspiration. Buddhists call this wisdom. And they see a clear link between meditation and wisdom. •If we want access to a higher wisdom, we have to let go of some of our convictions and become more comfortable with not knowing. Thinking that we know is often a big problem. Knowing you don’t know is hardly ever a big problem. (『I May Be Wrong: The Sunday Times Bestseller (English Edition)』(Björn Natthiko Lindeblad 著)
